More Prestige

We're excited to be working with the prestigous Saffron Centre for Young Musicians this coming Summer.

A division of Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the centre is part of Guildhall's push to bring excellence and progression routes to rural areas outside of London. Kate Goatman runs an excellent ship and has a great team of inspiring music educators.

Get Rhythm are booking workshops and projects for the summer now, contact us now to avoid disappointment!

GR Family Grows into 15-16!

The new academic year promised to be a busy and musical one with 2 new schools jumping aboard. Nayland Primary in Suffolk will be using Get Rhythm Tutors for their excellent choirs and Roach Vale Primary for African Drumming.

We also welcome incredibly talented new tutors (we'll introduce everyone on the site soon) and are very excited to be meeting lots of young musicians and singers!

Have a lovely rest of the summer.

We are pleased to announced 100% pass rate on instrumental grade exams in the recent crop.

We've never been so happy - merits and distinctions across the board. A special shout out to Seth, 16 who chalked up a record 94% on his Trinity grade 6 drum kit!

It's important that we remember grade exams are a small part of our varied journey to be balanced musicians - and continue to explore our own expression, curiosities and more. For now though, CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

GET RHYTHM At Roach Vale Arts Week

Children at Roach Vale primary school in Colchester were treated to a day of African drumming workshops as part of their arts week in June.

The jam-packed week was themed around rain and jungle. Reception to year 4 learnt traditional African rhythms for the first time.

"Kakilambe", the spirit of the forest is said to bring 7 years of rain and good fortune for crops to grow if the rhythm is played for 7 days and 7 nights. We couldn't hog the whole week, but the good fortune certainly rubbing off, with a fantastic response from all involved!

We look forward to seeing this lovely bunch again.

Bright drum kit student Owen caused a stir in his playground recently with an HOUR's non stop drumming in aid of Comic Relief raising over £75!

Owen's drumathon was completely self motivated (including hiring his mum as his roadie). On the day he drew the crowd in with quiet improvisations and then blew them away with big beats - quite the showman!

Owen has just taken his Trinity grade 1 exam. We wish him the best of luck! A model student using his talents to help others; a real inspiration.

New GarageBand Projects A Success!

Children in KS2 at Old Ford Primary - A Paradigm Academy, in East London, took part in an exciting new project using Apples Garageband to compose and produce music.

Year 5 scored original music for a "Google Maps" advert as part of their mapping topic. The results were nothing short of astounding, with the compositions really bringing the visual to life! Years 3 and 4 sequenced sound effects for a Viking animation and a Judaism film. Many children also composed freely for the school radio station.

All work was shared in assemblies and via the school website and youtube channel.

The project is partly pupil premium, G&T and aimed at children benefitting from enrichment activities.
